“Cleaning Gate”

In December 2021, cleaners at the private residence of the Swedish prime minister Magdalena Andersson used the wrong door to enter the building. The alarm went off, the police came – and arrested one of the cleaners, an undocumented migrant worker. The case has caused headlines in Sweden and beyond. The cleaner is now in custody, but her union is suing her employer according to Swedish law for “human exploitation”, as well as some of her former employers for outstanding pay.
